How to use this calculator
- Choose the horsepower and whether your aircon is an inverter or a non-inverter.
- Enter the hours of use per day and the days per month.
- Type the rate per kWh from your latest electricity bill.
- Optionally add the extra price of the inverter model to see the payback.
- Read the monthly and yearly cost and the difference between the two types.
What an aircon really adds to your electricity bill
In a Philippine home, the aircon is often the biggest single electricity cost. A bedroom unit running through the night can add thousands of pesos a month, and the number surprises many first-time owners.
This calculator turns the horsepower, the hours and your rate into a monthly peso cost, then compares the same unit as an inverter or a non-inverter. If you run it for long hours, the savings of an inverter can cover the higher price within a few years.

How the aircon cost estimate works
- Running power equals the horsepower times the watts per HP, adjusted for how much of the time the compressor actually runs.
- Inverter models adjust the compressor speed, so the calculator reduces the energy by the saving you enter.
- Monthly energy is the running power times the hours per day times the days, and the cost is that energy times your rate.
- Payback is the extra price of the inverter model divided by the monthly difference.
Tips to save more
- Set the thermostat around 24 to 26 degrees instead of the lowest setting.
- Clean the filter every month so the unit does not work harder.
- Use a timer so the unit shuts off after you fall asleep.
- Check the energy rating when you compare models.
