How to compare the real price of hotels
The headline price on a booking site is not always the final price. Taxes, service charges and local fees can add a noticeable amount, and different platforms display prices in different ways. Comparing the all-in total is the only fair way to pick a hotel.
This calculator adds up the room cost, your promo, the service charge, VAT and fees, and shows the total, the cost per night and the cost per guest. Use it for the same dates across Agoda, Traveloka and Hotels.com to see which one is really cheaper.
See current offers on the Agoda, Traveloka and Hotels.com pages, and plan the rest of your trip with the trip budget calculator.
How the hotel total is calculated
- Room cost equals rate times nights times rooms. A promo percentage is taken off the room cost first.
- Service charge is added on the discounted room cost, then VAT is added on the room cost plus service charge.
- Other fees are added per room per night.
- Taxes and fees vary by property and are sometimes included in the displayed price, so use the numbers from your booking page.
Tips to save more
- Compare the all-in total for the same dates on two or three platforms.
- Check whether breakfast and taxes are included.
- Look at the cancellation terms before you choose the cheapest rate.
- Use a promo code or card promo and recheck the total.
