How to use this calculator
- Enter the price of the item you want to buy.
- Choose the installment term in months.
- Type the monthly interest rate and any processing fee shown in the GCash app.
- Read your monthly payment, the total you pay and the extra over the cash price.
- Compare the real yearly rate with other ways to pay before you confirm.
Is paying in installments worth it?
Installments make big purchases feel lighter because the monthly payment is small. The trade-off is that you usually pay more than the cash price, and the extra can be large over a long term.
This calculator shows the extra cost in pesos and as a real yearly rate. If the figure is high, consider saving for the item, waiting for a sale or using a promo that waives the interest.
Compare with SPayLater, a credit card installment and the phone installment calculator, and see current offers on the GCash page.
How the installment estimate works
- The amount financed is the item price plus any processing fee.
- The monthly payment uses the standard amortization formula with the monthly interest rate you enter.
- The total is the monthly payment times the number of months, and the extra is the total minus the item price.
- The real yearly rate is the rate that gives the same payments on the item price alone.
Tips to save more
- Choose the shortest term you can afford.
- Look for 0 percent promos before paying interest.
- Do not stack several installments that crowd your budget.
- Set a reminder for every due date.
