How is overtime and holiday pay computed?
In the Philippines, work beyond normal hours or on holidays and rest days is paid at a premium. Your hourly rate is based on your daily rate, and the multiplier depends on the type of day: 125% for overtime on an ordinary day, 200% on a regular holiday, and higher when the work falls on a rest day or beyond 8 hours.
Night differential adds 10% of your hourly rate for hours worked between 10 PM and 6 AM. This calculator handles both pieces so you can check whether your payslip matches the rules and plan your income around holiday shifts.

How overtime and holiday pay is computed
- Daily rate: monthly salary times 12, divided by the working days per year (261 for a 5-day week, 313 for a 6-day week). Hourly rate is the daily rate divided by 8.
- Premium pay: hours worked times hourly rate times the multiplier for the type of day, such as 125% for overtime on an ordinary day or 200% on a regular holiday.
- Night differential: an extra 10% of the hourly rate for each hour worked between 10 PM and 6 AM, applied on top of the rate for that day.
- Special non-working days follow no work, no pay unless your company gives a better policy or the day is worked.
Tips to save more
- Track your hours and the type of day every shift so you can check your payslip.
- Ask HR how your company treats special non-working days and holiday pay.
- Remember that managerial staff and some other roles may be exempt from premium pay.
- Save part of your holiday and overtime pay, since it can vary from month to month.
