How to choose a cashback card that really pays
A card with a high cashback rate on dining does nothing for you if you mostly spend on groceries. The best card is the one that matches your own spending mix. Caps and annual fees can also change the answer, so the headline rate is only part of the story.
This calculator uses your real monthly spend and the rates on the card to estimate monthly and yearly cashback, applies the cap and subtracts the annual fee. It also shows the effective rate, which is the cashback you actually earn per peso spent.

How cashback is calculated
- Cashback for each category equals the spend times the rate. The monthly total is the sum, limited by your monthly cap if you enter one.
- Yearly cashback is the monthly cashback times 12. Net benefit is yearly cashback minus the annual fee.
- Effective rate is monthly cashback divided by total monthly spend.
- Rates, caps and conditions vary by card and change often. Enter the terms from your card or the bank page, and remember that interest on unpaid balances can erase any cashback.
Tips to save more
- Pay your full balance every month so interest never cancels your cashback.
- Match the card to your biggest spending category.
- Check whether the annual fee is waived with enough spend.
- Do not spend more just to earn cashback.
